To me, it makes perfect sense for Apple to phase out Cosmic Orange this year with the iPhone 18 Pro. I think a lot of Apple’s iPhone color decisions are based on fashion trends and the fashion industry.
In the world of fashion, colors appear and disappear in cycles. What makes the iPhone 17 Pro’s Cosmic Orange so special is that it’s unique. If it were to last for several generations, it would lose some of its appeal. It might even get “stale,” as the kids say.
Historically, Apple has switched out “unique” colors every year when it releases new phones. The iPhone 12 Pro is available in Pacific Blue, the iPhone 13 Pro is available in Mountain Blue and later Alpine Green, and the iPhone 14 Pro is available in Deep Purple.
