Preparations continue for the invasion of romance, with Hulu grabbing the rights to adapt the Kindred’s Curse Saga, written by Penn Cole. The show will be based on the first book in the series, Spark of the Everflame, according to The deadlineand will simply be titled Everflame. Writer and producer Heidi Cole McAdams, who wrote The 100, Death And Other Details, and Stumptown, will act as co-creator on the project.
The fantasy romance tells the story of the healer Diem Bellator and his life in the magical land of Emarion. Once home to immortal beings called the Kindred, that land is now run by the Descendants, their descendants. Diem – not a big fan of the Descended – ended up getting involved with the Prince of Lumnos, Luther Corbois, part of one of the most powerful houses in the land. Cue some slow burns and lots of romantic tension.

Heidi has a unique eye for reimagining the story for a visual medium while preserving the aspects of the books that readers love most, and her enthusiasm for collaboration makes her a dream author to work with.”
Everflame joins a wave of social media book sensations currently in development. The first novel in the Empyrean fantasy romance series, Fourth Wing, by Rebecca Yarros, comes to Prime Video from Amazon MGM Studios and Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society. Jennifer L. Armentrout’s Blood and Ashes Series is currently with Sony Pictures Television, and Netflix has Callie Hart’s Quicksilver, just to name a few. Unfortunately, the A Garden Of Thorns And Roses (ACOTAR) adaptation was once in the works at Hulu was canceled, but we found out last month Author Sarah J. Maas has reclaimed the rightsso we can hear more about ACOTAR adaptations in the future.
