Her appearance was doubly surprising as Madonna was rumored to be joining Carpenter on the show, leading many to wonder if she would perform the monologue in Sarandon’s place.
Sitting in a 1950s car in the theme of Carpenter’s set, Davis adhered closely to last weekend’s script, but the young waiter arrived at three and a half minutes instead of seven.
