Meta declined to comment when contacted by Fox Business.
A Meta spokesperson previously told Fox Business that the earlier Reuters report was a “speculative report on a theoretical approach.”

CEO Mark Zuckerberg has invested billions of dollars in artificial intelligence as the company turns to artificial intelligence technology.
Meta has also reorganized teams in its Reality Labs division and moved engineers to a new applied artificial intelligence group to focus on developing artificial intelligence agents capable of writing code and performing complex tasks, Reuters reported.
Meta had nearly 79,000 employees as of Dec. 31, according to its latest filing.

The 20% cut would mark Meta’s largest restructuring since 2022 and early 2023.
The company laid off 11,000 employees (about 13% of its workforce) in November 2022 and laid off an additional 10,000 employees a few months later.
Other major companies, including Amazon, have also announced layoffs related to AI development.
